Thank you for your interest in the Meridian Killer Whales! Below you will find the most current information about joining our team.
Tryouts for the 2026 season will be held on April 11, 2026, from 11 am - 2 pm @ the Nampa Rec Center.
If you miss tryouts and would still like to swim this summer, please look into the programs at the West Y or Boise Parks and Rec. They have teams with open enrollment and don't have the limiting time or space constraints that we do at the Meridian Pool. We hope you'll consider joining us next summer!

Meridian Killer Whales is a summer league team participating with the Boise Aquatics League. Our goal is to provide a safe and fun environment for kids to improve their swimming skills, and to HAVE FUN!
Our season runs for approximately 7 weeks during June and July. We practice weekday mornings at the Meridian Pool between 7:00 and 9:00 am. Age specific practice times vary year to year. For the 2026 summer season we start June 1, 2026 and end July 16, 2026.
We have 4 meets against other local teams during the summer, with league championships the last weekend of the season.
We require a minimum of 50% attendance to practices and participation in 2 meets.
We wish that we could accommodate every interested swimmer onto our team. Unfortunately, we are limited by available pool space and practice times and cannot take on every swimmer that would like to join us. As such, we have yearly tryouts to let us select swimmers based on skill ability and coach-ability.
Each year in Feb/March, we open up registration for returning swimmers from the previous season. If you swam with us last year, met the attendance and meet requirements, and are interested in continuing on, you are invited back to register for the next summer. Once we have an idea of how many spaces we have open for new swimmers to our team, we hold tryouts in early spring. If you do not register to swim for a season, and want back on the team, you will have to tryout again (and hope there is an open spot in your age group!).
At tryouts, swimmers will be asked to perform the following based on their age as of June 1 of the current year:
6 & under: 25 yards Freestyle + any other abilities
7-8: 25 yards Freestyle / Backstroke + any other abilities
9-10: 25 yards Freestyle / Backstroke / Breaststroke + any other abilities
11+: 25 yards Freestyle / Backstroke / Breaststroke / Butterfly + any other abilities
If your child makes the team, we send out notifications as soon as possible so that you can get registered online. The 2026 cost per swimmer is $195.
